Decisions:
Decisions were made in the assembly or they were made by the council. In ancient Athens they used direct democracy this means that they voted on all of the decisions and the laws that they were going to put in place. The president of the council rotated every month, there were 10 people on the council and there were 10 months in a Hellenic calender. Only male citizens of Athens could attend the assembly or vote. Slaves were excluded from voting as well. The assembly chose democracy officials to form a council but every male citizen was still allowed to take part in the assembly and forming of laws. The assembly had four main reasons of existence these were to make executive decisions for example going to war with another group of people, electing officials, trying for crimes and they legislated. Voting was done by show of hands and officials worked out the majority. Sometimes they used a method for voting which involved all of the males putting a rock in a large jar, a white rock for yes and a black rock for no, then officials would count the rocks.
