Beliefs:
There are lots of similarities and differences between the beliefs in ancient Athens and the world today. In ancient Athens they believe that there were multiple gods and goddesses and most people in the world today believe that there is one god. Although there is a small number of people still believe in the Greek gods. Nowadays birth is still relatively the same as it was in ancient Athens because they celebrate birth with a gathering of family and friends and they bring gifts for the new born child and this is not different to how births are celebrated now. Marriages are celebrated in a different way in the world today compared to ancient Athens. Nowadays marriages are arranged between the bride and the groom and the main celebration only last one day where as the celebrations lasted three day in ancient Athens. The funerals in ancient Athens are very similar to the funerals nowadays. Both funerals consist of a gathering of family and close friends that come to morn the death of a loved one and then they attend the burial of the person and then share a meal. The only difference in funerals are that in ancient Athens after the shared meal they smashed the plates and but we don't. The religious leaders roles have not changed since the time of ancient Athens. They are still a confident and someone that will help with any problems but now they don't communicate with the gods as much as they did in ancient Athens. They also still lead prayers and worship. The festivals that they celebrated in ancient Athens are still being celebrated today even by people that don't believe in the Greek gods and goddesses. For example the Olympic games. The Olympic games are still celebrated every four years but they are a time for countries to compete for gold instead of in honor of the king of the gods Zeus. In conclusion the beliefs part of civilization not changed in as many ways as it has changed.

Social Structure:
There are many similarities and differences between the social structure in ancient Athens and in the world today. Power in ancient Athens was given to a group of 10 males citizens and the rest of the citizen could vote on who was in the council and nowadays most countries chose to give power to a government that is run by many people that are elected by the citizens and the person that receives the most votes becomes the leader of the prime minister. The decisions and laws were made by all of the citizens or the council in ancient Athens but now all of the decisions are made by the leaders and political parties not all of the citizens. The rights of people have changed drastically around the world since ancient Athens. Now both women and men can lead what ever life they would like and slavery is banded in almost all countries across the globe. Education is now open to males and females unlike in ancient Athens when only males could have a proper education. The roles of citizens have not changed so much but the possible job ideas have grown to met the demands of society. In ancient Athens only men could earn work and the jobs were limited because of resources and technology but now because of the advance in research we have lots more job opportunities and women can fill these positions as well as men. In conclusion I think that we have used the bright ideas of ancient Athens and perfected them so that we have a productive and well run societies across the globe.
